Acceptable use
Last updated: October 6, 2026. This page is part of the Terms. It is not a lawyer’s opinion.
You may use ug.uy to point a short link, QR code, bio page, or digital card at a destination you are allowed to send people to.
Do not use ug.uy for illegal content, phishing, malware, unwanted software, spam, harassment, or content that infringes someone else’s rights. Do not use it to hide a destination that you would not show in the address bar.
How that is enforced
- Destinations are refused when they fail the URL safety check.
- When Google Web Risk is configured, it must clear the destination for malware, social engineering, and unwanted software. When that check is not configured, creation continues. An unsafe result is still refused.
- Invisible links only open https destinations, and they cannot target IP addresses, ug.uy, or a short list of other shorteners.
- ug.uy may remove a link, suspend a branded host, or close an account that breaks these rules or the Terms. Hosts can be suspended for abuse or impersonation. Names under ug.uy are not a property right.
To report a link, write to hello@ug.uy with the short URL. There is no separate public report form.
